I am not going to sit here and tell you I have succeeded in everything I have done. I have failed miserably at many different things, but I have never been afraid to try them. While in high-school, I played several sports, but I was never good at any of them. Once I graduated, I began driving race cars. I drove for 12 years and was never very good at it. What I figured out was that some of them I did because I thought I was supposed to, and some things I did because I thought other people would think it was cool.
Now, I have been doing comedy for five years and I am very passionate about it. I do it because I love it. I have studied not only comedy, but also the ins and outs of the comedy business. To this day, certain things still drive me nuts. Like someone wearing shorts or a hat on stage. New comics saying they are ready to feature, but don't even know to move the mic stand out from in front of them. I am very serious about what I do. And I surround myself with only the people that I feel are serious about it.
Which leads me back to my point. Failure is not an option for those that are serious about what they do. I will not let myself fail and I will not be around people who will cause me to fail. If you love music, comedy, acting, or whatever, it is a lifelong commitment.
